Marc Márquez shows the spectacular scar left by his fourth operation

While the MotoGP World Championship continues, with Assen as the last stop, Marc Márquez continues the recovery of his battered right arm. The pilot from Cervera combines rehabilitation with his vacations, as can be seen in his latest publication on social networks, where he shows the spectacular scar resulting from his latest operation.

In the snapshot you can see the eight-time world champion on a boat off the coast. There is a long scar on Márquez's arm that begins on his shoulder and ends in the sling that keeps his limb immobilized. Despite his frustrating situation, which he has been dragging for two years, the Catalan does not lose his usual smile, as seen in the publication.

The huge scar, even with stitches, joins others he has from previous operations on the same arm, although smaller. This new brand, the umpteenth memory of his martyrdom with this injury, arrives on the same day that his brother, Àlex Márquez, has announced the signing of him next year by the Gresini team, where he will ride a Ducati. He thus distances himself from the shadow of his brother, moving from the Honda satellite team, the LCR, to the Italian team.

The eldest of the Márquez was operated for the fourth time on the right humerus at the beginning of June at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (United States). His new step through the operating room occurred because the bone was already prepared for an intervention of this depth, which aims to correct the excess rotation of the joint, a problem that was affecting other parts of the body.

After the three-hour operation carried out by Dr. Joaquín Sánchez Sotelo, Márquez stayed in the United States for a few days to finish the postoperative phase in which he was accompanied by his trusted physiotherapist, Carlos García. Last week, already in Spain, he passed the first medical check-up satisfactorily at the Ruber Hospital in Madrid.

Márquez decided to stop after the race at Mugello and for the moment no deadline has been set for his recovery, although in principle he will not return this season. The ordeal of the man from Lleida began in the first race of the 2020 season in Jerez, where his right humerus fractured after a spectacular fall. Two years later and after reappearing last season, his right arm is still holding him back.
