María Guardiola is sworn in as president of Extremadura with the support of Vox

The popular leader of Extremadura, María Guardiola, has been invested as president of the Junta thanks to the support of the five Vox deputies. She thus becomes the first president of the community.

The PP candidate has obtained the confidence of the Chamber in the first vote, a week after reaching a government pact with the extreme right, which will be integrated into the Executive in the Ministry of Forest Management and Rural World.

Guardiola's investiture has not been without controversy since the PSOE won the regional elections on 28-M. At first, the PP leader asked the Socialists to abstain, but later she opened the possibility of negotiating "whenever and wherever" Vox wants.

The center of the controversy originated when Guardiola affirmed that he could not "let those who deny sexist violence into the government." Ten days later, the PP and Vox reached a government agreement.

In this sense, the popular leader promised yesterday during her inauguration speech to directly assume the powers in terms of equality in her government to "guarantee its priority nature." "We do take equality seriously, we work every day for its full realization," Guardiola reaffirmed.

Today, in the speaking time of the rest of the parties, the Vox spokesman, Ángel Pelayo Gordillo, has offered the PP leader in Extremadura a "lasting, loyal and effective" collaboration in the government of the region. For his part, Guillermo Fernández Vara, leader of the PSOE in Extremadura, has offered María Guardiola a pact for the region's infrastructure, as well as other agreements related to the financing of health or water management.
