The CEO of Espanyol, Mao Ye, revealed that the club is working on several operations to incorporate players in this winter market and that they would already be "advanced". This does not mean that these signings will necessarily happen, but it does mean that the club wants to reverse the bad planning carried out during the summer and make incorporations as soon as possible.
“There are several advanced negotiations. We hope that the incorporations will be as soon as possible, and not in January, that they will be this week. That is our wish, that the players get to know each other as soon as possible. But sometimes the negotiations do not depend on us," Mao Ye acknowledged. In this sense, he has not yet ruled out the incorporation of César Montes, the Mexican central defender with whom the Espanyol team is negotiating.
Espanyol closed the summer market without achieving the objectives promised to Diego Martínez. On the contrary, he released even De Tomás in an amazing way without anyone replacing his leadership. “The winter market is an opportunity. The summer work was not done 100% as we wanted and we have to take advantage of it. I would not talk about figures but about opportunities that we can find in the market. We have identified our strengths and our needs. It's about finding the pieces that are complementary to the current team.”
Mao Ye appeared after his first Shareholders' Meeting as CEO of the club, in which Espanyol has presented 23 million euros of losses, which brings the net debt to 43 million. Despite this, the club has announced the construction of a second sports city that would be located in Baix Llobregat. “There are different possibilities, but we are looking for something close. It is difficult to find large surfaces. This year I don't think there will be news, next year there will be municipal elections, ”he summarized.
Finally, he referred to the non-sale of the club.
