Manu Chao, Pere Arquillué and Joan Miquel Oliver, at the (a) phonic festival in Banyoles

The musician Manu Chao; the actor Pere Arquillué and the composer, singer and guitarist Joan Miquel Oliver are some of the headliners of the (a) phònica festival in Banyoles. In the three days of the festival, from June 24 to 26, 36 activities have been scheduled, of which 72% will be free.

Precisely the free or affordable prices of the artistic proposals (from 5 to 20 euros) is another of the characteristics of a contest, strongly implanted in the Pla de l'Estany and Banyoles, and that in this edition comes of age.

Among the outstanding performances is that of the former singer of Mano Negra, Manu Chao, in acoustic format, who will offer new and old songs in a concert at Club Natació Banyoles accompanied by guitarist Lucky Salvadori and Philippe Teboul on percussion.

Another of the outstanding names is that of Mallorcan Joan Miquel Oliver, lyricist of the Antònia Font group. Oliver will pay tribute to his first solo album, Surfistes en Càmera Slow (2005), accompanied by Xarli Oliver, on drums and vocals, and Jaume Manresa, on keyboards and also vocals.

In the theatrical section, the show Fil de memoria with the actor Pere Arquillué stands out, a performance that will serve to commemorate the centenary of the birth and 50th anniversary of the death of Gabriel Ferrater.

The festival invites established voices and new talents. Among the latter, the concert that the singer and composer from Salou Alba Morena will offer at the Auditori de Banyoles stands out to present her album The Two Ages for the first time in the demarcation of Girona.

Anna Ferrer will pay tribute to her native Menorca with the show Parenòstic, while the Majorcan singer-songwriter Maria Jaume will present her second album Voltes i voltes for the first time in the province of Girona.

The festival, this time, has co-produced two shows: Estop de Cor de Teatre, together with the Marfà-Center de Creació Musical i Somfònics and Les eines, by the Cor Jove Amics de la Unió with the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa, Càntut. Songs of oral tradition, the Auditorium Theater of Granollers and the Museum of Rural Life.

Flix guitarist Xarim Aresté, Catalan hip hop veteran Rodrigo Laviña and his combo, a family show by Marc Parrot and Eva Armisén, the Barcelona folk group El Pony Pisador or the duet Birds on a Wire are other performances planned in an edition that will also host the semi-finals of the state beatbox championship (the ability to produce drum sounds, rhythms and musical sounds using one's own mouth).

A micro-story show has also been programmed, written by various personalities from Banyoles, in which the public will be able to choose the best one, and a poetry recital by Antònia Vicens and Antoni Vidal, among other proposals.
