Madrid closes 2022 with 297,789 unemployed, 18.57% less than the previous year

The Community of Madrid closed 2022 with 297,789 unemployed throughout the region, 67,918 less than the previous year, 18.57% less, and with 132,992 more Social Security affiliates than at the end of 2021, 3.92% more .

According to the data released this Tuesday by the Ministries of Labor and Inclusion and Social Security, in the month of December 6,782 less unemployed were registered at the Madrid offices of the Public State Employment Service (SEPE) than in the month of November, 2.23% less.

In December there were 15,825 more affiliates to Social Security than in November, 0.45% more, with a total number of affiliates of 3,524,372 people.

In Spain as a whole, the labor market ended 2022 with 471,360 members more than a year earlier, bringing the total employed to 20.29 million, while unemployment fell by 268,252 people to 2.83 million, the lowest figure since 2007.

Returning to the Community of Madrid, in December there were 3,391,384 people registered in Madrid, of which 3,100,713 contributed to the general regime, 420,071 were self-employed, 3,589 contributed to the Sea regime and none in the Coal regime; and within the general regime, 2,022 people were registered in the Special Agrarian System and 101,709 in the Home System.

At the end of December, there were 121,149 men and 176,640 women registered at the employment offices; In addition, 18,082 were under 25 years of age, 9,462 men and 8,620 women.

Among the unemployed in Madrid, 48,248 are foreigners, which is 1,024 less than in November, 2.08% less, and 11,646 less than twelve months ago, 19.44% less.

Registered unemployment in the Community fell in all sectors last December except construction, where it rose by 729 people, leaving the total number of unemployed in the sector at 23,075.

It decreased in all other groups, especially in Services, with 5,979 fewer unemployed (which leaves the group total at 235,529 unemployed) and in the group without previous employment, which reduced the figure by 1,086 (19,655 total unemployed at the end of the year ).

In Industry the number of unemployed fell by 370 (leaving the sector at 17,165) and in Agriculture it fell by 76 (2,365 unemployed in the sector).

Within the group without previous employment, 2,519 people were under 20 years of age; 3,444 between 20 and 24; 2,279 between 25 and 29; 4,815 between 30 and 44, and 6,598 were older than 44 years.

The number of contracts carried out in December was 160,038, that is, 54,318 less, 25.34% less, than last November, and 55,984 less, 25.92% less, than in December 2021.

Of the total contracts, 69,938 were permanent (27.39% less than in November and 82.72% more than in December 2021) and 90,100 temporary (23.67% less than in November and 49.31% more than in December 2021).

In the Community of Madrid, at the end of November, there were 169,419 beneficiaries of unemployment benefits, with a total monthly expenditure of 199.8 million euros.
