Madrid approves a game of 10 million euros for the municipalities affected by DANA

The Minister of the Presidency and spokesperson for the Government Council of the Community of Madrid, Miguel Ángel García Martín, announced this Wednesday that the Madrid Executive has processed an emergency contract of 10 million euros through the public company Madrid Planifica to help the municipalities affected by DANA to recover normality with tasks such as cleaning or clearing debris.

The Minister of the Presidency announced the investment during the press conference after the Government Council and explained that it is 10 million euros that come from the reserve funds of the Regional Investment Program (PIR) and that they are already available of the city councils, although the emergency contract has been processed by the public company Madrid Planifica.

The objective of the plan is to help the affected populations in the initial tasks of cleaning, removing rubble and sanitation, so that they can recover normality and so that infrastructures such as the sewage system are operational in the event of other storms in the future.

The material damage throughout the community has yet to be quantified, partly pending the Government's declaration of Madrid as an area seriously affected by a civil protection emergency. In any case, García Martín declared that the Ministry of Transport is already starting the contracting files through the emergency route in order to restore the connections lost due to the collapse of three bridges on the M-507 that connected Aldea del Fresno with the surrounding towns. .

Likewise, the Ministry of Transportation also requested the collaboration of the Armed Forces, which has assigned a unit of the Army to install a provisional 'Bailey'-type bridge in Aldea del Fresno that will give the municipality an exit to Villamanta. The Community of Madrid has also made recycled aggregate materials available to the municipalities for the reconstruction of roads and highways.

Between 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, the Fire Department of the Community of Madrid carried out a total of 1,467 interventions in 105 municipalities, of which in 289 cases the displacement of a resource was necessary (to 53 municipalities).

The Municipal Coordination Center (Cecom), during September 3 and 4, managed a total of 216 notices related to rainfall. In addition, room 112 attended to some 2,300 incidents, with more than 18,000 calls.

The Community of Madrid activated the INUNCAM Plan in view of the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency -AEMET- regarding intense rainfall for Sunday. Through the regional Security and Emergency Agency ASEM112, firefighters, forestry agents and civil protection were coordinated, in addition to sending, for the first time, a massive alert by telephone to citizens to warn of the storm. The activation of ES-ALERT of the National Civil Protection System came after receiving the red level alarm from the AEMET, which implies a very high risk to the population according to the official classification.

The Community of Madrid Fire Brigade had a total of 581 troops, of which 277 were troops in parks -40% higher than the established number-, five chief supervisors, an additional officer at the Operational Coordination Center, as well as personnel assigned to attend to forest fires, who that day served as support in auxiliary tasks such as removing branches. In addition, 128 vehicles were used, including four bilge vehicles.

As for the regional Corps of Forestry Agents, there were 46 in the 16 regions, with their 46 4x4 vehicles, in support of the intervention group, as well as three daytime and one nighttime transmitters.
