Madrid alleges "feeling harmed" by the Negreira case and asks to be a private prosecution

Real Madrid filed a brief with the Barcelona judge investigating the Negreira case to appear as a private prosecution. In the document, to which La Vanguardia has had access and which was sent on March 24, the white club argues that it was "undoubtedly harmed" by the actions that are the subject of this case, and that they were "tended to favor the FC Barcelona in the decision-making of the referees and in the results of the competition”. For this reason, the club chaired by Florentino Pérez requests to be part of the accusation, which would provide him with all the information on the course of the investigation and would allow him to request prison sentences or a fine from those investigated, in this case also the FC Barcelona as a club, before an eventual trial.

Real Madrid also justifies its appearance in the case to ensure the "cleanliness of the sports competition in which it participates" and in which "FC Barcelona is one of the main competitors", therefore, it argues that "its appearance in the case it is requested as an offended or harmed entity to exercise the private prosecution”.

The judge has forwarded Real Madrid's letter to the rest of the parties in person so that they respond on the suitability of accepting Madrid as an accusation. At the moment, the only party appearing as a private accusation is the Professional Soccer League which, through a letter presented by Javier Tebas on February 22, asked to be part of the judicial process.

The parties must also decide on the acceptance of other entities that have requested to be part of the prosecution in the process. One of them is a member of Real Madrid who argues his legitimacy to appear for the fact that he is "one of Real Madrid's partners for more than 40 years" and since this is a team that has been "directly harmed by the events that are investigated."

The investigating court 1 of Barcelona, after receiving a complaint from the Prosecutor's Office, decided to investigate Enríquez Negreira and the former presidents Sandro Rosell, Josep María Bartomeu, the former executives of the club Òscar Grau and Albert Soler and FC Barcelona, as a legal entity, for the crimes of unfair administration, corruption between individuals and documentary falsification. FC Barcelona paid 7.5 million euros for 17 years to the vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees and the Prosecutor's Office suspects that the disbursements served to adulterate the competition.
