Álvaro García Ortiz (Salamanca, 1967) will be the next Attorney General of the State. The sudden resignation of Dolores Delgado for health reasons raises to the highest the, until today, courtroom prosecutor and head of the Technical Secretariat of the State Attorney General's Office.

From the Government they frame the movement as a natural replacement since Ortiz has acted as Delgado's right hand in recent years.

The depoliticization of Justice is one of the demands of the Popular Party to reach an agreement with the PSOE in the renewal of the judicial bodies and, in fact, it is stated in the judicial proposal that it sent to the Government a week ago.

In the specific section related to the Public Ministry, it states that "as guarantees of independence of the State Attorney General's Office, the possible disqualification of the State Attorney General will be expressly included" and it will be established that "those who have held political positions in the previous five years.
