'Lolo', the cartoonist from León, dies at 63

The Leonese cartoonist José Manuel Redondo 'Lolo', has died this morning after suffering a myocardial infarction, as reported by his family environment. He was 63 years old. Lolo was well known and loved throughout the province since he had dedicated his life to illustrating the political and social situation of León with a unique ironic touch.

He was currently working at the newspaper La Nueva Crónica after a 40-year career. His peculiar stroke, his natural sarcasm and the character of his own image, between that of a rocker and an epic character, made him an institution in the province of Leon.

His death has taken place just when he was finishing preparing the Fabero Esotericism Fair, an appointment in which he shared a hobby with friends and acquaintances.

Self-taught, he began as a cartoonist in 'Diario de León' in 1981 and continued in 'Noticias de Palencia' (1982), 'Diario 16' de Burgos (1983-1986) and 'La Crónica de León' between 1986 and 2014, reports Ical. During his career he received several awards and published several books.
