Lleida inaugurates a sexual health center for adolescents and young people up to 30 years old

This Thursday, Lleida City Council inaugurated a youth sexual health center to advise and accompany young people on sexuality issues. Located on Nou Street in the Historic Center, the new facility offers a friendly, accessible and confidential sexual and emotional care space for the group of adolescents and young people up to 30 years of age throughout the province.

A team of health and social professionals attends to consultations mainly related to Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), pregnancy, contraception, menstruation, sexist violence and health education, among others. The center offers both in-person and telematic care, individually or in groups, from Monday to Friday.

Other services of the center are related to specific attention to the individual needs of people with functional diversity, unlearning myths around sexuality, as well as developing knowledge for a positive and free sexuality from a feminist, trans and masculinity perspective.

The center will carry out support and referral work for LGTBIQ people and their families in cases of wanting to start transit processes, advice on drugs, chemsex and harm and risk reduction.

The Councilor for Seniors, Health and Consumer Affairs of the Lleida City Council, Anna Miranda, accompanied by the second vice president of the Lleida Provincial Council, Sandra Castro, led the inauguration of the new young sexual health center.

Public service hours are Monday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The schedule will be open to possible modifications depending on the demands of the center's users, the existing resources in the city and the professionals who work.

The Lleida City Council has hired a nurse to carry out the work of sexual health education for young people and other health promotion and disease prevention tasks.
