Liverpool equals the biggest win in history and Haaland signs his first hat-trick with City

In a big way, entering history, Liverpool achieved its first victory this season. The Reds equaled the biggest win in Premier League history by humiliating Bournemouth 9-0 at Anfield. Only Manchester United twice, against Ipswich in 1995 and Southampton in 2021, and Leicester, again against Southampton in 2019, had achieved such an impressive result.

Although the success was choral, the duel was especially relevant for Firmino. The Brazilian had lost his prominence of yesteryear. The arrival last year of Colombian Luis Díaz and this summer of Uruguayan Darwin Núñez had made Firmino less relevant despite the departure of Senegalese Sadio Mane to Bayern. The South American had a lot to do with the first win of the season, on matchday four, after two draws in their two opening games and last weekend's defeat against Manchester United.

After six minutes the clash was already on track for the red team. Two assists from Firmino and two goals. At three, by Luis Díaz, at six, by Harvey Elliot. Bournemouth was desperate. Mohamed Salah was able to score the third in the quarter of an hour, although it came in the 28th, when Trent Alexander Arnold made a wall with Firmino and beat Mark Traveres again from outside the area. A great goal

The fourth arrived in half an hour. It was scored by the Brazilian after a play by Salah on the right and a poor clearance by the bewildered visiting defense in the middle of a nightmare. In the addition before the break came the fifth. On an Andrew Robertson corner that Virgil Van Dijk headed into the net.

The break stopped the avalanche but did not calm the red mood. As soon as the second half began, Chris Mepham put the ball into his own goal and extended Liverpool's lead to six, which made it seventh at game time. Firmino marked it. Klopp took his foot off the accelerator with changes and the crash calmed down. Fabio Carvalho scored the eighth after a pass from Konstantiinos Tsimikas, one of those who had minutes in the final stretch. Klopp's team had no mercy, who made the ninth through Luis Díaz in 85.

It took much more for Manchester City to win their game against Crystal Palace, who went on to have a two-goal lead at the Etihad Stadium after 20 minutes of play. Then the cityzen machinery woke up and especially Erling Haaland, who signed his first hat trick in the Premier League. The Norwegian was helped by a specially tuned Bernardo Silva.

The Portuguese midfielder reactivated his team a few minutes after the break with a shot from outside the area with which City reduced distances and unleashed the storm. The goal spurred the locals and put an end to the order of the visitors, who finally ended up kneeling.

Haaland, missing in action and entangled in so much defense, showed signs of life in the last hour. His voracity is undeniable. And he proved it three times. First, to finish off a cross from Phil Foden at 62 minutes; later, in the 70th, he made the second after futsal play started by Bernardo Silva that he finished off at will after an assist from Stones.

Then, Crystal Palace, knocked out, advanced their lines and went for a draw. Haaland, with spaces, smelled the blood. On the run, he is unbeatable. And, unsurprisingly, he got his chance to show off his stride. The pitcher was Gündogan, who gave a measured pass to the Norwegian. He did not fail against Guaita, he signed his treble and, together with Silva, provoked the reaction of a team that seemed dead after an erratic first 45 minutes.
