Lewandowski accuses Bayern of lying about his departure

Robert Lewandowski finally achieved his goal, playing for Barça, but before starting his new stage at Barça he had to overcome the reluctance of Bayern Munich, who were opposed to his departure, especially publicly. The Pole has lamented the position of his old club, where he spent eight years, which he even accuses of lying,

"The decision to leave was mine, I did not see the problem. Some people did not tell me the truth and did different things. For me it was always important to be clear, to tell the truth. That was the problem. In the end I knew that something was not right with me. But I saw and felt that it was the right moment to leave Bayern and go to Barça," the striker explained on ESPN.

The now star of the Barça team always made his intention to leave the club clear, both privately and with repeated statements to the media, and at first he only found a negative response from leaders of the Bavarian club such as the executive director, Oliver Kahn, or the sports director, Hasan Salihamidžić, with whom he met in Mallorca to confirm his firm intention to sign for Barça.

"Everything that happened in the last weeks before I left Bayern was also, of course, a lot of politics, and the club tried to find the argument to justify my sale, which is difficult to explain. The fans and I had to accept this even though it was a lot of false nonsense about me," he added about the information that transpired, especially about Bayern's alleged interest in hiring striker Erling Haaland.

The one from Warsaw denied that his intention to change the air arose from the possible incorporation of the Norwegian star, finally signed by Manchester City: "No, that had nothing to do with it... The decision to leave was not for him. I didn't see a problem if he joined Bayern Munich." Finally, Bayern agreed to negotiate with Barça and agreed to sell their reference striker for 45 million euros plus five in variables.

Despite the tense ending, the Golden Boot only has words of thanks as he recalls his glorious time at Bayern, where he won eight league titles and one Champions League, among many other titles. "I had a very good relationship with my teammates, with the coaching staff and with the coach, of course. I'm going to miss them. I had a very nice time there. We were more than just friends on the pitch," he recalled.

Now, however, he looks forward to his journey in a renewed Barça, with up to five new faces so far, including the Pole. "Maybe the first few weeks will be a bit difficult for the whole team as they have to adapt to each new player. I'm pretty sure that after a few weeks this machine will work every day, every week even better than before." concluded.
