Leonart Rigger, the electric scrambler motorcycle 'made in Barcelona'

Electric mobility has generated new business opportunities for national companies and manufacturers of vehicles and components. As a consequence of this impulse, the Spanish zero-emission mobility industry has been experiencing rapid growth in recent years with the incorporation of new brands.

This is the case of Leonart Motors, a company born in Mataró (Barcelona) that offers vehicles that go beyond simple elements for getting around and tries to introduce style and emotionality into its proposals. Thus, it recently presented the new Rigger, its first electric motorcycle that combines power, manageability and elegance to “change the game” of urban electric mobility.

Focused on those users who seek to identify with their vehicle as an extension of their personality, the proposal is based on a successful urban scrambler-type aesthetic and is the first electric vehicle in Leonart's offering. The Catalan firm already had other 125 cc motorcycle proposals in its catalog, in this case with combustion engines, all of them with a careful vintage aesthetic, whether custom, scrambler or cafe racer, such as the Daytona, the Pilder, the Heritage, the Tracker or the Vessel.

The Leonart Rigger presents a robust image but with lightness and agility thanks to its minimalist lines that evoke the monocoque designs of the popular trial and enduro motorcycles of the 70s. This particular “retro” style is accentuated by the double-spar multitubular chassis , which serves to ensure precise behavior. It is a light electric motorcycle, very agile and with “exceptional” cornering, according to those responsible.

Although it was designed for the city, its features allow it to overcome urban routes. It is a vehicle with type L3e-A1 approval (A1 / B driving license three years old) so it reaches 50 km/h in MODE 1 and 102 km/h in MODE 2. It therefore has a variable autonomy depending on the speeds at which it is driven. 150 km at 50 km/h, 80 km at 70 km/h and 70 km at 95 km/h.

It is equipped with a 3.84 kWh capacity battery (72V 50Ah) that powers an electric motor with a nominal power of 4.5 Kilowatts and a peak of 7 kW that provides up to 65 Nm of torque. The full battery charge time is about 6 hours. The electric motor is anchored in the swingarm, near the rear wheel axle, so the transmission is direct with gears.

The chassis structure of the Leonart Rigger hugs the battery area, in such a way that a narrow design is achieved that improves the driver's driving comfort. The seat height is 800 mm from the ground, making it accessible for most users. It has 260 mm CBS single disc front and rear brakes and inverted suspension on the front axle.

Among the most characteristic design elements of the Leonart Rigger are a wide handlebar to facilitate riding comfort, a TFT screen where basic driving information is displayed and a round LED front lighting headlight.

In addition, its one-piece two-seater seat stands out. Regarding its dimensions, it measures 2015 mm long and 845 mm high. It has a 110/80-18 front tire and a 150/70-17 rear tire. The weight of the set is 120 kg.

The new electric motorcycle from Leonart Motors, which is already in production, is offered at a promoted price of €5,499, thanks to the discount as an introductory offer of an additional €500 (instead of the €5,999 tariff). However, if we add the MOVES III plan, the user can benefit from up to 1,300 euros in subsidies.
