Lauda Ultracool invests seven million in a new plant in Terrassa

The German refrigeration systems company Lauda Ultracool has invested 7 million euros in a new production plant of almost 5,000 m2 in Terrassa (Barcelona), which will generate 30 new jobs, doubling its workforce in Catalonia.

The firm is dedicated to the production of refrigeration systems for sectors such as semiconductors, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles or digital printing.

The company, which inaugurated the new plant in Terrassa this Thursday, plans to triple its annual production and turnover in 2026, according to a press release from the Department of Enterprise and Work.

Headquartered in Baden Wuttemberg, Lauda Ultracool has factories in Germany, Shanghai and Canada, in addition to the one in Terrassa, and has 560 workers that will grow to 600 at the end of this year.

In addition to the production area, the plant has a research and development center, a warehouse and commercial offices.

Until now, Lauda Ultracool had another smaller factory in another part of the same municipality and exports 90% of its production, mainly to Europe and the United States.

The Catalan government's agency for competitiveness, ACCIÓ, has given support to the German firm to expand its activity in Catalonia, which is increasingly focusing on projects linked to green hydrogen, energy storage batteries or biotechnology.

The manager has highlighted the importance of the Terrassa plant in order to increase the group's annual sales from 100 to 250 million euros.
