Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is experiencing exponential growth in cycling

The bicycle is consolidated in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as a sustainable alternative to the private vehicle for urban trips, as reported by the latest bicycle barometer in Spain.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a reflection of the upward projection of the bicycle as an urban mobility option, where the municipal bike rental service, Sítycleta, has played a key role, the Councilor for Mobility of the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, José Eduardo Ramírez.

In the capital, the Sítycleta registered in the months of June and July of this year a "positive evolution in the average number of uses per bike", reflected in an increase of 41% in this period compared to 2018, now standing at 3 6 uses per bike per day.

For Ramírez, the use of the bicycle in the city has already established itself as a real alternative for urban mobility since "what 8 years ago seemed like a chimera today is already part of the daily photography of the capital."
