La Tallada, four churches for one town

Can you imagine a town that, in reality, is four towns, with four medieval churches? Well, then, they will be thinking about La Tallada d'Empordà.

It is a quiet corner of the Baix Empordà region, which we have visited in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos, where you can delve into art and nature.

We can't stop visiting the Romanesque churches that are only six and a half kilometers away: Santa Maria de la Tallada, Sant Esteve de Marenyà and Sant Climent de Tor. And we can also find Sant Mateu de Cane.

The route is distributed through the four population centers, Canet de la Tallada, Maranyà, Tallada d'Empordà and Tor, in the Plana del Baix Ter, since the Ter river borders the southern part of the municipality.

Another advantage of having four towns in one is that each center of La Tallada d'Empordà has its own festival. Around the municipality you can take several nature itineraries, of low difficulty, since the terrain is not very rugged.

The L'illa de Canet Wild Fauna Natural Reserve has signposted itineraries for bird watching. It constitutes an important refuge and nesting area for various species of birds typical of wetlands and especially linked to riverside forests.

In addition, in Canet de la Tallada you can see the remains of an aerodrome from the Spanish Civil War, number 318. It is one of the ten that were built in the province of Girona in 1938.
