La Perla 29 recovers its first show twenty years later

More than twenty years have passed since Oriol Broggi proposed to the Sala Beckett to present The eyes of the eternal brother, the theatricalization of a short novel by Stefan Zweig that his grandfather Moisés discovered.

The director of the Beckett, Toni Casares, gave them absolute freedom, recalls Broggi, and with Òscar Muñoz, Bruno Oro and the musician Marc Serra the company La Perla 29 was born. “We didn't know if we would charge, if it would continue, and the work was well and it was the beginning of our story”, declares the director.

Now, to celebrate this anniversary, Broggi has recovered that production, which opens on February 8 at the La Biblioteca theater. There is only one change, which is the actor Xavier Ripoll in the role that played Oro.

“With Marc Serra we always talked about doing it again. We thought about changing actors for actresses and even having someone else direct it. But in the end we have recovered the same assembly. The only change is the passing of the years in the interpreters, with a voice that has more weight”.

Broggi also considers that this foundational production reflects the spirit of the company, which has been characterized by a humanist theater and a simple approach in terms of staging.

Els ulls de l'etern germà tells the story of Virata, a brave warrior who unknowingly kills his brother. The hero abandons the sword and tries to do good through different jobs, but he realizes that always, in one way or another, he ends up influencing others. To celebrate these twenty years, La Perla 29 will invite viewers born in 2003 to the theater.
