Kyrylo Budanov will be the new Defense Minister of Ukraine, replacing Olexiy Reznikov

Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, pressured by a corruption scandal at his ministry, will be transferred to another post. This was announced this Sunday by the head of the parliamentary bloc of President Volodímir Zelenski.

David Arakhamia has also commented that Ukraine's Defense Ministry will be headed by Kyrylo Budanov, head of the GUR military intelligence agency. However, he has not anticipated when the relief will be formalized.

"The war dictates changes in personnel policy," Arakhamia has assured in the Telegram messaging application.

"Times and circumstances call for strengthening and regrouping. This is what is happening now and will happen in the future... The enemy is preparing for an offensive. We are preparing to defend ourselves and return what is ours," added this Sunday.

Oleksii Reznikov had already stated that he would resign if President Volodimir Zelenski so decided and also promised to support his successor, amid rumors unleashed about his next replacement.

However, after learning about this possible change in the Ukrainian Executive, Oleksii Reznikov has assured that he would "refuse" to direct, for example, the Ministry of Strategic Industries.

"If I suddenly received such an offer from the President of Ukraine or the Prime Minister, I would reject it because I do not have the experience that would allow me to be the minister of the Ministry of Strategic Industries. So I think it is a mistake," he said in an interview for the Ukrainian television channel ICTV.
