French central defender Jules Koundé, Xavi Hernández's latest Barcelona signing, returned to training alone this Saturday, the day after he successfully passed medical check-ups before his contract with the Catalans was confirmed.
Koundé trained alone, since the entire team is in New York, where this next morning he will close the tour of the United States in a match against the New York Red Bulls.
The Frenchman has not yet been able to play a minute in this preseason, since in mid-June he underwent surgery for some discomfort in the groin area.
The idea of the coaching staff is that he may be available for the team's league debut (August 13, Camp Nou against Rayo Vallecano), although he could play for a few minutes at Gamper, which Barcelona will play against UNAM Pumas on Sunday August 7th.
Koundé will be presented this Monday, when he will sign a contract for the next five seasons, at an event to be held at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
