Junts per Catalunya will sue the senator of the PP for the Community of Madrid, Alicia Sánchez-Camacho, for her role in the so-called 'Operation Catalunya' and for lying in parliament, in two investigative commissions, after in recent Several days have been revealed various audios in which the former president of the popular in Catalonia conspired with Commissioner Villarejo, maximum exponent of what is known as patriotic police and sewers of the State, to disrupt the independence movement. The formation plans to announce the complaint this Tuesday afternoon, which will be presented to the Supreme Court due to its status as an appraisal.

The former deputy of the Parliament, Congress and Assembly of Madrid, who led the Catalan PP for almost a decade, between 2008 and 2017, collaborated closely with Villarejo, as published by the newspaper El Món these days. However, in the investigation commissions of the Catalan Chamber on the Pujol case and on the 'Operation Catalunya', in April 2015 and in July 2017, she assured that there was no such operation and that she did not know that the conversation she had in the Barcelona restaurant La Camarga with Victoria Álvarez, former partner of Jordi Pujol Ferrusola, the son of the former president, was being recorded. Already in 2017, the CUP asked the Parliamentary Committee that she be denounced for lying two years ago when some incriminating voice messages published by the newspaper Público were known.

Last week it transpired that Sánchez-Camacho handed over to ex-commissioner José Manuel Villarejo a list of pro-independence activists to investigate. Among others were Artur Mas, then president of the Generalitat, who headed the La Caixa Foundation and is now Minister of Economy and Finance, Jaume Giró, the then leader of the Democratic Union of Catalonia and CiU spokesman in Congress, Josep Antoni Duran and Lleida, to Oriol Pujol Ferrussola, leader of Convergència, to the then director of La Vanguardia, José Antich, or to the businessmen Enric Lacalle and Carles Sumarroca.

Minister Giró already advanced the other day that he, in a personal capacity, will take these facts to the Prosecutor's Office for investigation. The now leader of Junts pointed out that these are events of "extreme seriousness" and a "serious violation of fundamental rights", especially considering that he did not hold any political office at the time. The Minister plans to present the complaint first thing in the morning together with his lawyer, criminal lawyer Jordi Pina.

The Penal Code stipulates that "whoever summoned before a parliamentary commission of investigation fails to tell the truth in his testimony will be punished with a prison sentence of six months to one year or a fine of 12 to 24 months."
