Junts per Catalunya does not rule out sealing an agreement with the PDECat in Barcelona, as proposed by the Junts candidate for the municipal elections in the Catalan capital, Xavier Trias. The spokesman and vice president of JxCat, Josep Rius, pointed out this Monday at a press conference that the convergent former mayor will have a "free hand" to configure his electoral list and his work team. "Everyone who wants to join is welcome," he added.
"We said that we would not reach any pact with other parties at the national level, but agreements can be adopted at the municipal level," said Rius, who gave an example of the incorporation of a former CUP candidate in Argentona (already planned for months ) or another from PDECat in Figueres. "There will be more cases like these," said the Junts leader, who said that in several municipalities there has been an agreement with the local representatives of the PDECat, although it is also true that in others they will compete at the polls. Each municipality is unique and there will be different formulas.
Two hours before Rius spoke, the organization secretary of the PDECat, Genís Boadella, had revealed at a press conference that there are informal contacts with Junts to explore an electoral agreement in the Catalan capital, and has asked for "discretion and co-responsibility" so that there is entente Still, he has pointed out that the "logic" would be a coalition.
