Junts asks the ERC to clarify whether to comply with the agreement with them or with the PSOE

If the ERC and the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, blame the partners of Junts per Catalunya for the Government to hang by a thread, with the threat of leaving the executive, due to its internal discrepancies; From the formation led by Laura Borràs and Jordi Turull, they transfer that responsibility to Esquerra for what they consider breaches of the Govern agreement.

In this sense, the spokesman for Junts, Josep Rius, has summoned ERC and Aragonès to clarify themselves by considering that they are the ones who have a "gibberish of investiture agreements", one with them and the other with the PSOE. In an interview on Catalunya Ràdio, Rius has accused Esquerra of opting for the agreement with the PSOE for the time being and has reiterated that if the ERC does not comply with the government agreement, the militancy of his formation will vote for continuity in it.

Rius has rejected the calls for loyalty made by Esquerra and has insisted that what it is about is the fulfillment of a political agreement that "is public and notorious." At this point, he detailed that the agreement signed in the spring of 2021 between Junts and ERC established the creation of a space for the strategic direction of independence, that the dialogue table focus only on self-determination and amnesty and make a common front in Madrid . In Junts' opinion, these points are not being fulfilled.

In line with this, the post-convergence spokesman has warned that the options of leaving the Government depend on the ERC complying with the pact it signed with us, for which he has emphasized that it is Esquerra who must be clarified between "a gibberish of investiture agreements with the PSOE and with Junts". "You must decide which one complies" has summoned, Rius who considers that "until now Esquerra has respected more what he signed with the PSOE than what he signed with Junts."

Regarding the consultation with the militancy to decide on the continuity of Junts in the Government, Rius recalled that the national executive decided to give a period of one month to speak with ERC regarding compliance with the agreement and depending on how these conversations went, they would submit the continuity in the Govern to the militancy, an agreement that, as he specified, "was taken unanimously". For this reason, he has stressed that the will in Junts to enforce the agreement is "unanimous".

In any case, Rius has been convinced that there will be more meetings with ERC until the general policy debate scheduled for the last week of September with the aim of ensuring that the government agreement is fulfilled beyond last Wednesday's meeting. "All the meetings are profitable, it is good to confront the different visions", the spokesman concluded.

On the other hand, the Junts spokesperson expressed his satisfaction with the work being carried out by his party's councilors in the Government and highlighted that from a sectoral point of view the work they are doing "is very good", while he has rejected that Vice President Jordi Puigneró "dance the chair" as some sources explain. "He is doing an excellent job and has the full support of the party," Rius assured.
