Junqueras laments the return of the King Emeritus and compares it to the situation in Valtonyc

Oriol Junqueras denounces that the return of the King Emeritus to Spain has taken place despite the suspicion of "enormous irregularities" pointed out by international justice and regrets the contrast between his situation and that of Valtonyc and other positions of Esquerra, who remains in exile "for having defended democracy and for having defended the right to vote." "He calls out for common sense and for the democratic dignity and honesty of all citizens," he has said.

Junqueras is in Palma, where he will hold various meetings with leaders of Més, a party with which Esquerra has an alliance in Mallorca. The coordinator of the Mallorcan formation, Lluís Apesteguia, has announced that they will present a proposal in the Balearic Parliament to request the abolition of the crime of insulting the Crown.

Junqueras has referred to the differences with the PSOE when assessing the visit of Don Juan Carlos, but has not openly responded to whether that will have consequences in the support of his formation for the Government of Pedro Sánchez. "We who give support are the citizens and, from time to time, we coincide with other political spaces that do the same", he specified.

"We neither support nor deny support to a government based on its political color, but based on whether what it proposes is useful for citizens," he added. In this sense, he stressed that one of the useful things for citizens and for society as a whole "is the defense of their fundamental freedoms and basic rights, including the right not to be spied on or the right to be able to decide about the future through voting". He has recognized that, in these areas, "there are differences".
