Junqueras hopes that Junts will continue in the Government "loyally" but sees ERC prepared to govern alone

The president of the ERC, Oriol Junqueras, has shown his desire for Junts to continue in the Government of Catalonia, but with a "loyal attitude" to the president of the Generalitat, he has pointed out. He has also justified the president's coup of authority by dismissing vice president Jordi Puigneró and has wanted to dismantle the complaints of the post-convergents about the non-compliance with the government agreement, an agreement that, according to Junqueras, "is more than fulfilled". In any case, if Junts decides to leave the Catalan Executive, the leader sees ERC prepared to govern alone, for which he will not have the PSC, he assures, and counts on Junts continuing to give his parliamentary support.

Speaking to Catalunya Ràdio, the Republican extolled the figure of Aragonès: "We have a very strong president, very focused, and some ministries that work, and we trust that everyone knows how to prioritize the country", he called in reference to the post-convergents.

And it is that, for Junqueras, the crisis that Palau is experiencing is the product of the “internal debates” that Junts is suffering. “It seems very good to us that they carry out the internal consultations that they deem convenient”, but “we hope that it will be resolved in the best possible way, and continue with a positive attitude, of loyalty and for the good of the country”, he has wished.

For Junqueras, the crisis is only an internal problem for Junts, not a question of disparity in strategies within the independence movement because "there is only one strategy, the one we have always explained, that of being more to be stronger". In this way, he has discarded the so-called strategy of confrontation defended by Junts and also by the CUP, which in his opinion does not exist because "no one has explained what confrontation is."

The Republican leader has included confrontation in his party's dialogue strategy because “we constantly confront each other when we make the government sit down at a negotiating table. We have forced him to do so”, he has defended, after which he has defended that the fact that the dialogue table is maintained although it does not bear immediate fruit, “in itself is evidence that there is a conflict and is a way of showing it before the international community”.

Junqueras has insisted that his preference is for Junts to continue in the Catalan Executive despite the "obvious disloyalty" which, in his opinion, has meant that Puigneró did not inform Aragonès of Junts's wish that the president submit to a matter of confidence, something that "is unparalleled anywhere in Europe", he denounced. Even so, "that they clarify the internal doubts they have and hopefully continue with the will to serve the public in the face of such obvious and urgent needs in the social and economic sphere", he has summoned.

The Republican wanted to dismantle Junts's reasons for leaving the Executive, by contradicting the non-compliance with the three points of the government agreement denounced by the postconvergents. For Junqueras, "these three points are very well fulfilled", including coordination or the common front in Madrid.

In this case, Junqueras explained that in 60% of the votes in Congress, ERC and Junts have voted the same, with PSOE and Podemos, and in 30% they have voted together against the Government, and in the other 10% JxCat has voted with PP and Vox. “It is evident that it is fulfilled”, she has insisted. Also in the Senate, where he has recalled that "if Junts has its own group, when it was not strong enough to have one, it is thanks to ERC". "We are convinced that the good people of Junts will know how to value it", he has summoned.

But Junqueras has also been very critical of the postconvergents, pointing out that he is surprised that they have so many doubts about continuity in the Government and instead do not have as many about whether to maintain the agreement with the PSC in the Barcelona Provincial Council, chaired by the socialist Nuria Marin.

According to the Republican leader, "ERC will assume the scenarios that occur in the best possible way", although he has "ruled out" an early election, given the context of the economic and social crisis. And in the event that the postconvergents decide to leave the Catalan Executive, Junqueras has been confident that they will also give their parliamentary support to the Government: "I don't want to think that they will vote against Catalonia."

The Republicans "do not consider governing with external support from the PSC," he remarked. If JxCat leaves the government, "it will be responsible enough to vote in favor of Catalonia, and since the government's action will be in favor of Catalonia, they will support the government's action," she confided.
