Juanma Moreno wants to take office as president of Andalusia on July 23

Juanma Moreno, president-elect of the Junta de Andalucía, wants to hold the investiture debate on July 20 and 21, so that on Friday the 23rd he could take office as head of the Andalusian Executive in the XII legislature. With this, he would ensure that his new government comes into operation in the last week of the month. For now, the proposed dates have been well received by the rest of the parliamentary groups, as confirmed by Elías Bendodo, Minister of the Presidency.

The popular leader achieved an absolute majority in the elections held on June 19, when he achieved the majority support of the citizens in all the Andalusian provinces, which translated into 58 seats (the absolute was stable at 55), making up the first victory of the PP in the South.

In the elections, the PSOE-A, led by Juan Espadas, won 30 seats while Vox, led by Macarena Olona, became the third most voted force with 14. Behind, the confluence of leftists 'Por Andalucía' Inmaculada Nieto won 5 representatives, and Teresa Rodríguez's party, Adelante Andalucía, won two. Ciudadanos, a formation that has been part of the Government in the previous legislature with Juan Marín as leader, disappeared from Parliament when it did not obtain any seats.

The first milestone will be the constitution of the Andalusian Parliament of the XII legislature, established in the decree calling the regional elections for 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 14, and which must elect the members of the Chamber's Bureau, including the person who will hold the Presidency, which for the first time in the history of autonomy will fall to a PP-A deputy.

From the constitution of the Parliament, the Regulation establishes in its article 138 a maximum period of 15 days for the president of the Chamber to propose a candidate for the Presidency of the Board "after consulting the spokespersons designated by the parties or political groups with parliamentary representation".

As detailed by Bendodo, Moreno wants to shorten the maximum period planned to place the investiture debate on July 20 and 21, so that Moreno can take office on Friday the 22nd and, already as president-elect of the XII legislature, designate his Government to start operating in the last week of July".

Moreno's objective is to have the Government "constituted and functioning normally without wasting a minute" "as soon as possible" and has defended that the calendar proposed to the groups "is realistic and the best for Andalusia" because "it can be met" for that the Andalusian Government "start rolling in the shortest time possible".

Bendodo has placed as a priority that Andalusia can count on a new budget "as soon as possible", after the rejection of PSOE-A, Vox, United We Can and Adelante Andalucía knocked down in November the draft Budget Law presented by the Government of PP and Citizens (Cs) by 2022.

Moreno justified in his day the early call for the elections precisely in the need for Andalusia to have new budgets before next year to face the difficult economic scenario caused by the rise in inflation and the effects of the war in Ukraine.

Macarena Olona, the head of the Vox list to take over the Andalusian Government on 19-J, will be the spokesperson for the parliamentary group. It was she herself who confirmed her new position, noting that it is "an honor" since she was grateful for the trust that the group has placed in her. "My commitment to Andalusia is total and absolute," she insisted.

The woman from Alicante has commented that she intends to "lead the opposition to put light in those dark rooms where the PP and the PSOE like to hug each other, thinking exclusively of their well-being" and among which she has included "corruption". His training, he has said, is going to continue with an "outstretched hand" to the acting president of the Board, Juanma Moreno, in the new legislature, although at the same time he is going to "supervise" and "not allow" the "great pacts " or "agreements" that he has indicated that "were seen during the campaign" between the PP and the PSOE.
