Jorge Javier Vázquez returned to television after 117 days of absence with a new program, Chinese Tales, which despite his efforts failed to beat its main competitor, El Hormiguero. The premiere garnered a 9.4% audience share (1,240,000 viewers), while Pablo Motos’ program achieved an astonishing 19.1% audience share (2,488,000).
The low audiences for the new Telecinco program caused even the presenter himself to joke about the issue, “reproaching” his followers on networks that they had missed “hundreds of thousands” of the event. He also did it at the opening of his second show on Tuesday, which he considered “a miracle.”
“Welcome to the second Chinese Tales program. My goodness, after yesterday, getting to the second one seems like a miracle to me,” he began his initial monologue, with his characteristic mocking tone. The one from Badalona did not want to miss the criticism they had received on social networks about how the program had been developed, trying to give the public its place.
“Really, yesterday I had the feeling that it was like when you go to your mother’s house to eat and she says: ‘A plate’. And another plate, and another plate, and another plate… Like at weddings. The crayfish , the crayfish, another crayfish,” he commented. What’s more, he even confessed that he himself had no idea what his own program was about.
“I’m going to tell you something. When I got home, my ex, my Paco, was there. At twelve thirty in the morning I told him: ‘Paco, I don’t know what the program is about,'” he confessed.
The presenter took the opportunity to give way to his new collaborator, Bárbara Rey, after this confession, trusting that she would be the one to help find “a little bit of meaning” to the program.
The audience numbers were not relegated to the beginning, because Antonio Castelo also took the opportunity to highlight the low data in his section. Yes, with a lot of humor. “The first thing, the audience. 94%, right?”, to which Vázquez replied, sardonically: “Yes, the audience yesterday… It was like the look on Sánchez’s face after the debate with Feijóo “.
