Joan Baldoví toughens his speech against Pedro Sánchez as the centerpiece of his electoral campaign

The Compromís candidate for the Presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana, Joan Baldoví, is clear: the rival is not Ximo Puig, but Pedro Sánchez. And the main messages and attacks will be directed towards him during this campaign that he already agitated yesterday with the presentation of the first measures that he will take if he is elected president of all Valencians.

The slogan in the Valencian coalition is not to charge against the current head of the Consell (partner of a Government to which Compromís intends to give continuity) and focus efforts on warning of non-compliance and the constant "abuse" of the Government of Spain with the Community Valencian.

The idea is to reposition Compromís with the label of being the party that "best defends the interests of the Valencians". A flag that the socialists snatched from him to consolidate in 2019 as the majority force in the Valencian territory.

In this struggle between the two main parties of the Botànic, yesterday, Baldoví slipped: "I think it is good that the president of the Generalitat is not part of the same party as the president of the Government, since that allows him to be more belligerent." With everything, it seems that the target of the Compromís darts will not be Ximo Puig.

The anti-Sánchez strategy makes sense, since the figure of Puig seems to be more consolidated among the Valencian electorate (especially after the pandemic) than that of the Spanish president. A quick look at the latest CIS indicates that Pedro Sánchez's score among Compromís voters was 4.74.

In this line, the candidate for the Presidency, Joan Baldoví, explained yesterday that, if he wins the elections, the first thing he will do is pick up the phone to ask the President of the Government for a monographic meeting on the main problem that grips Valencians: the bad financing, the little execution of state investments and the historical debt.

The Valencian leader pointed out that the unfair distribution of funds weighs down the policies of the Valencian Government and prevents it from having the necessary financial lung to undertake large investments and transformations in the production model or improve housing or health policies.

Aware that the meeting with Sánchez may not unravel the situation (the financing system has been out of date for years and with no view of a prompt reform), the national deputy announced that he will explore the judicial route. It is not the first time: the Consell already tried (then against Mariano Rajoy) but in just 45 days, the Constitutional Court dismissed the appeal. However, Baldoví believes that administrative litigation can still be explored.

Along these lines, Baldoví's approach to not resign himself and sit back (another message for the PSPV) and create a powerful legal team with the Generalitat's Lawyers, the Consell Jurídic Consultiu and experts from Valencian universities to reactivate the path judicial.

This initiative, Baldoví clarified to questions from journalists, will be taken by him in the first person if he manages to reach the Palau de la Generalitat or will demand it as a non-negotiable part of a new government agreement to reissue the Botànic.

The parliamentarian believes that if it has been possible to take the transfer from the Tagus to the Segura to court, there is also a way to bring the insufficiency to which the expired financing system condemns the Valencian Community.
