Jet2 links Liverpool with Alicante and already has 11 connections on the 20th anniversary of its first flight

On May 19, 2003, the first flight of the Jet2.com company landed at Alicante-Elx airport from Leeds Bradford. Thus began a successful commercial relationship that has just completed two decades and has transported millions of travelers between the Costa Blanca and the British Isles. On this twentieth anniversary, Jet2 announces that in March 2024 it will add a new connection to the existing ones with Alicante, and it will do so from its new base in Liverpool.

It is not, of course, the first link between the two cities, but it is the first time that Jet2 has established this route, and it does so with an ambitious schedule of four weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) through which it hopes to transfer more than 20,000 passengers a year.

Currently, the airline connects the Alicante aerodrome with ten of its bases in the United Kingdom: Belfast International, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, East Midlands, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle International and London Stansted), which means the potential arrival of more than 420,000 travelers, with 70 weekly flights in high season.

The new base that Jet2 establishes in Liverpool will also schedule flights to Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with the forecast of offering close to 148,000 seats to its customers. Alicante will be the only peninsular destination and the third with the most places, behind the Canary Islands (70,000) and the Balearic Islands (56,000).

Jet2 is Britain's third largest airline, after easyJet and British Airways, and has recently overtaken TUI to become the UK's largest travel operator.
