Italian film and stage actor Enzo Garinei dies at 96

The Italian film and theater actor Enzo Garinei, known for his professional relationship with the historical "Totó" and participating in more than 70 films and numerous theatrical comedies for half a century, has died at the age of 96 in Rome, the Italian media reported today. .

He was the brother of the also deceased in 2006 Pietro Garinei, who together with Sandro Giovannini is considered in Italy one of the fathers of the Italian musical and co-author, among other works, of "Agiunge un posto a tavola".

Enzo Garinei was a film, theater and dubbing actor. Throughout his career he made more than 70 films and walked the Italian stage for fifty years in productions such as "Alleluja brava gente" and "Aggiungi un posto a tavola".

Born in Rome on May 4, 1926, he took his first steps in show business during the war years and soon met the likes of Gabriele Ferzetti, Marcello Mastroianni and Giulietta Masina.

He made his film debut in 1949 with "Totó le Mokó" and it was precisely with this Italian actor, whom he saw as his great teacher, that he later made several films.

In theater, he starred in numerous shows by Garinei and Giovannini, such as "Alleluja brava gente" and "Aggiungi un posto a tavola", and also played several roles in television series.

In the 2017-2018 theater season and again in the 2019-2020 season, he toured performing "the voice of God" in a new edition of "Aggiungi un posto a tavola", a role that endeared him to the public.
