Irish actor Ray Stevenson, the legionnaire 'Tito Pullo' in the series 'Roma', dies

Irish actor George Ray Stevenson, famous for his role as Tito Pullo in the Roma series, died today at the age of 58 on the Italian island of Ischia (south), where he was filming a movie, according to local media reports.

Irish actor George Ray Stevenson, famous for his role as Tito Pullo in the Roma series, died today at the age of 58 on the Italian island of Ischia (south), where he was filming a movie, according to local media reports.

Stevenson, who would have turned 59 this Thursday, died at the Rizzoli hospital in Ischia after being admitted for health problems that have not yet been disclosed, according to the same sources.

The actor was on the Neapolitan island to shoot the film Cassino a Ischia directed by Frank Ciota.

Born in 1964 in the city of Lisburn, Northern Ireland, he was especially known for playing the legionnaire Tito Pullo in the famous HBO and BBC series Roma between 2005 and 2008.

His film debut came in 1998 in Paul Greengrass's The Theory of Flight and he also worked in King Arthur (2004), starring Clive Owen.

Specialist in strong and action characters, he is also remembered for his participation in the installments of the Marvel factory as Frank Castle The punisher in Punisher: War Zone (2008) and as Volstagg in Thor (2011), among other roles.

During the filming of the Roma series, he met his current partner, the Italian anthropologist Elisabetta Caraccia, with whom he had three children. Between 1997 and 2005 he was married to the British actress Ruth Gemmell.

In his career there are also numerous roles on television, in the series Dexter, Black Sails or I Medici or Vikings.
