The Spanish Ana Baneira Suárez, 24, who was imprisoned in Iran since the first days of November, was released this Saturday by the Iranian authorities and is already flying back to Spain, sources from the Foreign Ministry have reported.

Baneira, members of an NGO defending human rights, was arrested at the beginning of November for allegedly participating in the protests that occurred after the death of Mahsa Amini, the young woman arrested for wearing the veil incorrectly.

According to Foreign Affairs, the activist has already spoken with the Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, whom she has assured that she is in good condition and has expressed her joy at returning home and her gratitude for the efforts made by the Ministry for her release. .

Santiago Sánchez, for his part, continues to be detained after being arrested as he passed through Iran on his trip to Qatar, where he had planned to witness several matches from the past World Cup.
