Intervention with minors at risk of social exclusion: a profession on the rise that changes lives

Childhood is one of the most important phases in the life of any human being, since in this stage physical and psychological aspects are developed that will shape the adult of the future. Boys and girls who find themselves in situations of vulnerability and social risk lack, in many cases, adequate references in their family environment that accompany them in this process.

In Spain, during the past year, 50,000 boys and girls were cared for by the child protection system; of which, 17,000 are in centers for minors, according to the Observatory for Children. The protection of the most vulnerable people is a commitment and a priority for society, which is why the work of professionals who work in centers for minors is so important. A profession on the rise and with high demand by protection centers. In this context, the Postgraduate in Intervention with Minors arose, training with practices in centers for minors and with a commitment to employment for those who successfully complete these studies.

The work of thousands of social education professionals is essential to improve the living conditions of boys and girls in vulnerable situations. Education has the power to transform their lives, to give them hope and a better future. It is the professionals of the centers for minors who, with their knowledge and know-how, contribute to reversing the risk factors through the creation of protection strategies necessary for their social inclusion.

In recent years, there has been a professionalization in the care sector for minors at risk, accompanied by a boom in the interest of education professionals in training in aspects related to Intervention with Minors and young people at risk of social exclusion.

There is a great demand for professionals in this sector. Currently, 79% of social educators work with minors and young people in protection centers, juvenile justice services, prevention and care programs for victims and minors at risk, prevention and treatment of addictions and in other care services for minors in different risk situations.

The skills of these professionals are a guarantee of success in the interventions that are carried out, since, in addition, they guarantee adequate and quality care for minors and young people.

However, for such care to be appropriate, specific training in this area is very important. Most of the entities dedicated to working with minors and young people request it in their job offers, since it assures them that the candidate has a series of technical and practical knowledge in real environments.

In response to this demand for professionals trained in the field of intervention with minors, the International School of Mediation (EIM) has created the Postgraduate Program in Intervention with Minors. A training that trains education professionals to identify situations of social risk and prepares them so that they can intervene with minors and young people in different areas, designing effective and innovative programs and activities. A training that also has real practices in centers for minors and employment commitment.

The postgraduate course in Intervention with Minors, with a methodology and quality endorsed by the more than 4,600 professionals who have trusted the International School of Mediation, is the training that opens the doors to work in this sector that changes lives.

Given the existing demand in entities that work with minors for education professionals with the necessary skills to address the different situations that arise in the daily intervention work with minors, the answer is quality training, by professionals in sector, which has practical content in real contexts and which guarantees employment for professionals.
