The Civil Guard is investigating a 63-year-old man from the Merindad of Estella for a crime against road safety who this Saturday drove several kilometers in the opposite direction on the A-12 (Autovía del Camino) and tested positive for alcohol and drugs.

The Command and Coordination Center (CMC) of the Foral Police requested collaboration this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. after being alerted by citizens of a tourism that was circulating in the opposite direction on the A-12 at km 40, in the municipality of Ayegui .

The vehicle was traveling on the A-12 towards Pamplona on the platform in the Logroño direction. According to the whistleblowers, it traveled several kilometers in the opposite direction, crossing all kinds of vehicles "putting the lives and physical integrity of these people at serious risk." The vehicle traveled for about six kilometers in the opposite direction on the highway until it left it at exit 34.

The Civil Guard sent patrols from the Traffic Group and citizen security to the area to try to locate and stop this tourism. Finally, thanks to the help of an Environmental official, he was stopped on the NA-1110, at pk 30,500. The car was traveling with the right front wheel burst due to hitting the median of the A12 before leaving the NA-1110 direction.
