Inditex has agreed this Wednesday to pay a 3% increase in salary in advance and not consolidated to group employees who work in provinces with collective agreements to be renewed. The measure was taken during the constitution of a negotiating table between the company and the CC.OO unions. and UGT to address the remuneration of the workforce throughout Spain.

It is a payment on account waiting for the different provinces to approve their respective agreements in the textile or commercial sector and the salaries are updated. Inditex does not have its own agreement, like most large groups in the industry, so its workers are subject to provincial agreements, which are the ones that set wages.

As of today, some twenty provinces have the sectoral agreement or expired or under negotiation, and in another eight provinces the validity of the agreement ended on December 31, according to an estimate by CC.OO. Some provinces have not updated the agreements since 2015, with which the templates located in them have spent years with frozen salaries. In Catalonia, the Barcelona and Tarragona textile agreements have recently been renewed, but the Girona and Lleida agreements ended last month. In these two provinces, the trade agreement prevails, and the workers of the Inditex companies will receive an advance of 3% of their annual salary.

Employees of the group protested at the end of last year in A Coruña, summoned by the CIG union to demand labor improvements and salary equality with the workers of the group in the logistics sector. In Madrid there was also a specific protest.

In recent months, Inditex has reached agreements with the majority unions to improve the remuneration of the workforce. During today's meeting, Inditex has informed the unions of the fulfillment of objectives in 99% of the stores, which implies the general collection of the incentive for sales assistants agreed by CC.OO and UGT in the November Agreement (1,000 euros, 600 euros in the case of less than 24 hours per week).

Both unions have also claimed the equalization of existing bonuses in different provincial agreements and the definition of criteria for improving the incentive system in the different brands, issues that will be discussed in future meetings. Inditex has also announced that it will double the number of people with disabilities in its workforce in the next two years. Thus, it stands out that this measure will mean the incorporation of more than 1,500 professionals to the group.
