In October, TMB breaks the historical record for trips in a month and in one day

The data for the month of October that have just been released consolidate the trend of increasingly massive use of public transport in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) last month broke its all-time high by exceeding 60 million monthly validations. In addition, on October 31, the TMB metro and bus network registered a daily record, with more than 2.4 million trips.

In the metro network, October has been the month with the most validations in the history of the company with 40.9 million trips and the daily record has been surpassed twice, reaching the maximum on October 31 with 1.65 million of trips on a business day.

Likewise, the bus network has also already surpassed the figures for October 2019 and with 19.6 million validations it has marked its second best month in history.

The 60.5 million TMB trips last month confirm that more and more people are using public transport to get around. The transport ticket bonus is helping to shatter all records, as is also happening in other operators such as Renfe.

The president of TMB and first deputy mayor of Barcelona City Council, Laia Bonet, explained that “the efficiency of the TMB network service means that more and more people use public transport” and pointed out that “we will continue working to improve even more public transport, on the way to an increasingly sustainable city.”

The TMB 2025 Strategic Plan and Social Responsibility and Sustainability Plan establish the company's commitment to increase the number of users in public transport and contribute to more sustainable mobility.
