Many stars who are not exactly footballers participate in the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The ice cream makers who work in the gastronomic area par excellence of Doha are some of them.
Ice cream and show. Every time someone asks for ice cream, they put on a show. They bring the cone to their customers, and invite the buyer to take it out of their hands, which is impossible.
A constant deception. They all use the same technique: they offer almost finished or finished ice cream with a stick and for a few seconds they fake several times to give it to those who buy it. Thanks to the fact that there are many videos of them -and that these are very successful on Twitter- the tourists who traveled to Qatar to watch the World Cup already know them very well.
Haroun's case. Harun, one of the crazy ice cream makers, is Turkish and only speaks English. He is 42 years old and is working in Doha's Souq Waqif market. He will stay there for three months until he raises a sum of money (approximately 15,000 euros) that will help him for the rest of the year.
"I miss my family," he said in TN. “I have four children in Turkey and I come to work here for three months to earn a good amount of money that allows me to rest until next year,” Harun explained.
Each ice cream of his (with show included) costs about 10 euros. He works from five in the afternoon to three in the morning and serves about 300 a day. "For me it's normal," Harun said about the frequency of sales.
When he returns to Turkey, he will not sit idly by: in his native country he has his own business that he will have to attend to for the rest of the year.
