Iberdrola and UNICEF have presented this Friday in the Madrid town of Leganés an alliance aimed at contributing to the social and labor inclusion of young people and promoting the generation of training and employment opportunities, both in Spain and internationally.
Iberdrola will contribute 3 million euros to the alliance as a whole over the next three years, and UNICEF will make available, among other things, its global learning platform that allows continuous access to quality education for children and young people from all over the world. the world.
"The main objective of this alliance is to promote opportunities for the empowerment, education, training and employability of young people in vulnerable situations in Spain and internationally, contributing to generating more sustainable, resilient and inclusive employment", add the promoters of this alliance.
The challenges faced by young people around the world have prompted both organizations to "add their knowledge, experience and capacity for innovation to offer them training and employment opportunities in sectors related to the green economy, which present growth prospects ".
Both institutions emphasize that "some 270 million young people between 15 and 24 years of the 1,800 million people in the world with this age range cannot access education, employment or training and, of them, two thirds are women.
"With this alliance, we respond to the challenge of generating employment opportunities for young people in situations of vulnerability in sectors of the future, such as clean energy, which will allow us to achieve a more sustainable and prosperous world for all", stated the Chairman of Iberdrola , Ignacio Galan.
The President of UNICEF Spain, Gustavo Suárez Pertierra, added that through this alliance they will be able to "increase the options so that these young people can progress and reach their maximum potential, joining forces with Iberdrola", whom he thanked for their commitment.
"Each young person must have the opportunity to develop personally, professionally and vitally, especially those who have it more difficult. Only in this way will we achieve sustainable and inclusive social progress", Suárez Pertierra insisted in the presentation of the alliance.
With this alliance, Iberdrola also becomes the promoter of Generation Unlimited, a global initiative launched by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018 and led by UNICEF that seeks to connect millions of young people around the world with opportunities for training, empowerment, employment and social entrepreneurship.
