Homosexuality, pedophilia, abortion... the Pope talks with young people in a documentary

Since Jordi Évole achieved one of the most desired interviews by any journalist in 2019, chatting with Pope Francis, the relationship between the communicator and the Holy Pontiff seems to have strengthened over time. In fact, their second meeting was via video call, while we were in full quarantine due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Now, the Catalan has a new project with the Pope as the protagonist, a documentary entitled Amen, Francis responds, which will be released on April 5 at Disney. A film directed by Jordi Évole and Màrius Sánchez, in which a group of young people chat with His Holiness about homosexuality, pedophilia in the Church, abortion... An encounter without filters.

What would happen if a group of young people, of different ages, ideologies, sexual orientations and beliefs, could chat openly with the highest representation of the Catholic Church? This is what we will discover on April 5 thanks to the latest documentary directed by Jordi Évole and Màrius Sánchez for Disney.

In the tape, entitled Amen, Francis Responds, Pope Francis holds a meeting with ten young people with different life paths to answer everything that worries them, without filters, without restrictions, without taboos. Among the topics that will come up: feminism, abortion, homosexuality, pedophilia or the loss of faith...

"Do you know what a non-binary person is?", "If I weren't a feminist, would I be a better Christian?", "The issue of pedophilia in the church?" ?”, are some of the questions that will appear throughout this talk between young people and a Catholic leader, held last summer in Pigneto, one of the most alternative neighborhoods in the city of Rome.

The result of this meeting is a conversation based on empathy, respect, curiosity and mutual learning. In fact, the Pontiff goes so far as to say at the end of it, by way of thanks: “I learned a lot from you in this pastoral meeting. I thank you for the good you have done me."

For the directors of the documentary, Évole and Sánchez, this work is "a unique opportunity to bring together two worlds that normally do not touch, to make one of the most influential people in the world have a dialogue with a group of young people whose lives sometimes collide head-on." with the postulates of the Church. And it has been an act of great generosity, both on the part of Pope Francis and on the part of the ten young people”.
