Have you noticed Sau's arc gravity?

Approaching now the arch-shaped gravity dam of the Sau reservoir and looking at the swamp is spectacular and, at the same time, devastating, as can be seen in the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia.

We see the water below the infrastructure, with the boats right there, in the dam. But, in reality, they look far, far away, due to the low level of the reservoir, now at 9%.

Little by little, only the water that comes down from the River Ter and the boats that take the fish from the swamp will remain. Let's hope this spring is rainy and helps alleviate this disaster.

Arch-gravity dams are huge concrete dams that resist the push of water by their weight, using the force of gravity and its balance due to its arch shape.

In other words, it is a type of dam that combines the characteristics of a gravity dam and an arch dam at the same time. The most famous is the Hoover Dam in the United States.

The curved arch design is very effective in supporting water in tight, rocky places where the sides of the gorge are hard rock and the water is forced into a narrow canyon.
