Haaland and Lewandowski take their scoring duel to another level

Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland began a goalscoring duel several years ago, when they met in the Bundesliga for the first time at the beginning of 2019. The Norwegian's emergence after signing for Borussia Dortmund was so surprising (7 goals in 3 games) that it seemed that the Pole's dominance in the scoring charts would come to an end. It was not like that and the Pole extended his reign until he said goodbye. Four years later, and in the distance, they maintain a wild duel at the beginning of the season.

Lewandowski has won the title of Germany's top scorer in the last five seasons (he has seven top scorers in total). The last three were the ones with the highest production of his entire career, with 34, 41 and 35 goals respectively in the league. In the Champions League he surpassed himself with 33 goals throughout those years.

And he hasn't slowed down despite having changed country, league and team. With Barça he has scored 11 goals in eight games in all competitions, figures only achieved at the club by Messi and Luis Suárez. The Pole's scoring average is 1.37 goals per game or, what is the same, he scores a goal every 65 minutes.

If the Barça striker's numbers are magnificent, Haaland's are even better. The Norwegian never got close to the figures of the Pole during his time in Germany. 13 (he only played half a season), 27 and 22 goals were his contributions during the last three years of his stay in Germany in the league. In the Champions he added a total of 15 goals.

Now, at City, he has taken a leap in quality. Almost everything he touches turns into a goal. In the 10 games he has played he has scored 14 goals, 1.40 per game. In other words, he scores a goal every hour he plays.

With these numbers, both lead the League and Premier scorers table, respectively. And if they continue with this fantastic progression, the two will be the top candidates to win the Golden Boot. For now, in November the Norwegian will be able to rest and will not go to the World Cup in Qatar, where the Pole will play everything with his team. The pulse will be long but exciting between the two best scorers of the moment.
