Guindos responds to the Government that it is impossible to influence the ruling on the banking tax

The Vice President of the European Central Bank (ECB), Luis de Guindos, replied this afternoon to the Government of Pedro Sánchez that "it is impossible for one person to influence" an opinion such as the one made by the body on the banking tax. A week ago, President Sánchez insinuated that the critical tone of the ruling on the bank tax was the responsibility of Guindos, who was Minister of Economy with the PP.

In his speech, Guindos outlined this midday some "complex months ahead" for the European economy with "a technical recession that is the central scenario" and "inflation that is going to remain high". He has said it today during the XXVII Meeting of Economy in S'Agaró.

Guindos has warned that the main risks for the economy are the so-called second-round inflation. "The higher inflation is, the more likely second-round effects are," she has said. This effect consists of a higher rise in inflation due to salary increases that precisely seek to curb the negative consequences of inflation.

The Minister of Economy of the Generalitat, Natàlia Mas, also participated in the same round table, saying that she hopes to carry out the budgets. Regarding the fiscal strategy, she has indicated that she could not reveal what the orientation will be. In the presence of the vice president of the ECB, Mas lamented that the Generalitat has not yet obtained the bank card for the ICF. Precisely the lack of a bank card is what makes it difficult to accept the ICF guarantees to the Nissan reindustrialization hub as a guarantee to be able to receive the Perte resources.

At that same debate table, the president of the Spanish Chamber, Josep Lluís Bonet, reflected that in his opinion the Spanish economy will go through a slowdown process and not a recession. The businessman has pointed out that the basis of the economic miracle is "the company".
