Guillermo: "It will be a while until life without granny seems real"

"It will be a while before life without Grandma seems real." Prince William made his first public statement this afternoon through a note on social media after the death of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and the rise to the throne of his father, King Charles. III.

The new Prince of Wales considers that the world has lost a reference and he has lost a grandmother from whom he has taken great advice for his life and is grateful for having had her support and wisdom.

"She was by my side in my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life," he declared in a veiled reference to the death of his mother, Diana of Wales.

He has also spoken on behalf of his wife, now Catherine of Wales, who "has had her guidance and support for twenty years," and his three children "have enjoyed vacations with her that they will remember all their lives."

The prince assures in his statement that the best way to honor the missing queen is by supporting the new monarch. "I will honor her memory by supporting my father, the king, in any way he can," he said.

Guillermo thanked his grandmother on behalf of his generation for the example she gave of "service and dignity in public life, from another era, but always relevant to everyone".

"My grandmother used to say that pain is the price we pay for love. All the sadness that we will feel in the coming weeks will be a testimony to the love that we all feel for our extraordinary queen," he declared.
