Guillem Pujol and Aida Bertran win the Christmas Cup

Mataró Swimming Center swimmer Guillem Pujol and Mediterranean Sports Club swimmer Aida Bertran have won the 113th edition of the Nadal Cup this Sunday in the waters of the port of Barcelona. This emblematic event, which takes place every December 25, has had 402 swimmers in its different categories, the second best participation in its history.

Guillem Pujol has achieved his ninth consecutive victory with great authority, which leaves him just one win away from equaling the record of ten victories held by Dani Serra. The CN Mataró swimmer covered the 200 meters starting and finishing at Portal de la Pau on a sunny morning with the water at a temperature of 14 degrees.

It took Pujol to swim this distance a time of 1 minute and 53 seconds, very close to the test record held by Carles Ventosa since 1994 with a time of 1:51.05. Pujol is the fourth swimmer to go under two minutes in the 113-year history of the event after Carles Ventosa, David Royo (1:51.07 in 1992 and 1:53.55 in 1995) and Dani Serra (1:58.90 in 1989).

The second position in the absolute male category went to Gerard Serrano with a time of 2 minutes and 12 seconds. Pau Roure (CN Sabadell) came in third place, with a time of 2 minutes and 14 seconds.

In the absolute female category, swimmer Aida Bertran won her third Nadal Cup by beating the winner of the last four editions, CN Barcelona swimmer Laura Rodríguez with a time of 2 minutes and 16 seconds. Bertran already won the trophy before, in the 2013 and 2014 editions

Rodríguez crossed the finish line after covering the 200 meters in 2 minutes and 24 seconds. The women's podium was completed by CN Hospitalet swimmer Judith Navarro, winner in 2016 and 2017, with a time of 2 minutes and 29 seconds.
