Guardiola highlights that the Cercle Meeting will be at the center of the electoral debate this year

The president of the Cercle d'Economia, Jaume Guardiola, this afternoon inaugurated the XXXVIII Meeting of the Cercle d'Economia, which will be marked by the "sudden" call for general elections that President Pedro Sánchez made this morning. Precisely, the conference will be closed on Wednesday by Sánchez in what may be the first public participation after the call for elections.

Guardiola has pointed out that this year the Meeting will be at the center of the political debate not only because of the electoral progress but also because of the hangover from yesterday's municipal and regional elections. It was the mayoress Ada Colau who gave the welcome speech to the participants in the conference that for another year is being held at the Hotel W in Barcelona. The policy recognized that until the constitution of the new city council must attend to institutional obligations.

He has taken advantage of his words to ask for the vote for the left-wing parties in the recently called July 23 elections. "As a woman on the left, I believe that all these challenges that exist must be made by governments of the left," said Colau. "We need progressive governments," she added.

The mayoress has taken advantage of her participation to thank the "institutional loyalty" that the Cercle has always had with her. "She has always shown an attitude deeply rooted in the city and with a dialogue attitude," she explained.

The president of the Cercle also recalled that the title of the meeting "Reactivating the future" will take them for three days to dissect the best practices to get the economy moving forward. In the Opinion Note published by the Cercle last week, the entity has warned of the relative impoverishment of Catalonia and Spain in recent years in relation to Europe.
