Gray herons put on the helmet of workers

In La Gleva, a town that forms part of the municipality of Les Masies de Voltregà, the gray herons are under construction. They have an architect and a surveyor, and the others work as workers building or rebuilding their nest in the trees on the banks of the Ter, as we see in The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia.

Gray herons breed in colonies, usually in tall trees near water. In this area, specifically, they take advantage of the River Ter.

Nests start out as a small platform of sticks, but can end up being a huge mass of accumulated material. In this case, we see how these birds are very busy these days to build their homes.

As we can see in the images, the gray heron is a large bird, with a stylized figure, a long neck and a basically greyish color.

When in flight, it adopts a very characteristic posture, with its neck tucked into an "S" shape and its legs stretched out behind its tail.
