The IOT Solutions World Congress that is being held this week in Hall 4 of the Fira Gran Via until this Friday exhibits the advanced state of the Internet of Things and its application to all kinds of devices that can be controlled remotely. The aim of the event is to present the most recent and sophisticated solutions that connected devices can offer to improve people's lives.

The Internet of Things has advanced to a greater extent in recent years thanks to the interaction with other fields of technology that have made great advances, such as 5G networks, augmented reality or Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In total, 330 exhibitors from all over the world and representing all kinds of technology brands meet in Barcelona with the intention of showing the ingenious solutions that connectivity between objects has in store for us. To the already well-known home automation, other very interesting proposals are added.

Tiago is a robotic arm from a Barcelona company whose objective is to work with the utmost precision to handle all kinds of merchandise or objects. In addition, with the possibility of doing it thousands of kilometers away thanks to the connectivity offered by its controller, a kind of pencil through which the precision of the operations entrusted to the android increases.

Through the joystick, the operator feels the robot's work area, so if it bumps into an object, it can be perceived in real time on the remote control. PAL Robotics managers explain that the robot's long-distance operation has been successfully tested, since one of these prototypes installed at its headquarters was recently controlled from the Netherlands.

At a time when cars already have powerful software systems, it is not surprising that hacking is becoming a serious threat to vehicle security. For this reason, the German Siemens wants to demonstrate it by providing a driving simulator that during its use will undergo external manipulations that will leave the driver without brakes or accelerate by surprise. In addition, the multinational wants to raise awareness of the risks that a connected car can suffer by simulating attacks to modify the mileage or affecting the remote control of various functions of the vehicle.

Another local company breaks into the contest with a solution focused on improving the lives of those people who do not have a complete vision. In this way, Biel Glasses presents glasses that indicate to the user what obstacles are around them and, using dates, circles and other symbols, it tells them how to overcome them to follow the path.

A car designed by the UPC and the CARNET automotive and mobility research and innovation hub aims to bring home purchases, both those made in the supermarket and e-commerce parcels. The vehicle, which has already been successfully tested, travels to the indicated address and the user receives the delivery through a mobile app.

The IOT Solutions World Congress coincides in dates and practically in space with the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the most important audiovisual fair in Europe that changed Amsterdam to Barcelona just before the pandemic and that until now had not been able to be held with its full potential . During these days, the movement of people in the Fira complex in l'Hospitalet remembers another great event that will be held at the end of this month, the well-known Mobile World Congress.
