Goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, an Argentine with Italian nationality, will defend the Girona jersey this season on loan from English side Fulham, Montilivi's team announced on Thursday.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper played 15 games for Fulham last year (13 in the English second division and two in the FA Cup) and will now meet again with Míchel Sánchez, who was already his coach at Rayo Vallecano in the campaign 2016-17. That season he played 32 games in Second.
Gazzaniga will now live his second stage in LaLiga Santander: in the 2020-21 academic year he played eight games with Elche in the First Division.
The goalkeeper, international with Argentina once (2018), has also played for Southampton (23 games between 2012 and 2016) and Tottenham (37 games between 2017 and 2020, 25 in the 19-20 season).
In Montilivi, Gazzaniga will fight for the starting position in goal with Juan Carlos Martín and the young Toni Fuidias, also signed this Thursday.
