The Escaparate magazine awards ceremony, held this past Friday in Seville, was more than a mere social event: it became the ring of a haute couture rivalry. Carmen Lomana and Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, two public figures immersed in a media confrontation, shared space for the first time in several months in which very unloving words have been dedicated to each other.

Lomana had already warned upon her arrival in the Andalusian capital that she was going to be educated with her old friend. That is to say, if she saw her, she would not hesitate to say hello, but without kissing twice. And it seems that both, despite all the taunts that have been launched in recent weeks, did not want to overshadow one of the great nights of Sevillian society with their personal wars.

In fact, both the designer and the television collaborator preferred to keep their distance as much as possible. In this sense, both were in the front row of the family photo for the awards, but always at a safe distance so that the sparks did not jump.

The origin of this confrontation dates back to June 2021, when Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada decided to end her relationship with the gallery owner Luis Gasset. At that time, Lomana described Gasset as “posh” and Ágatha as arrogant and arrogant. The Leonese socialite also did not bite her tongue when criticizing how Ruiz de la Prada referred to his ex, Pedro J. Ramírez, as “the unmentionable.”

The response to this affront came in the designer’s memoir. In those pages it is stated that Lomana, who in the beginning bought Ágatha’s costumes for her store in San Sebastián, used to pay “late and poorly or never.” Additionally, the designer threatened to reveal more secrets about Lomana if she continued to criticize her.

While all this was happening, Carmen Lomana’s television appearances multiplied. You could say that the notoriety she gained by continuing to stoke the fire was beneficial to her, in terms of media presence. On the other hand, Ágatha was more reserved, although she did not remain silent either.

To add fuel to the fire, José Manuel Díaz Patón, Ágatha’s new love, came to his partner’s defense, suggesting that Lomana’s hostility could have roots in an old personal disagreement. For her part, the television collaborator continued to criticize other former relationships of the designer.
