García Montero will publish a collection of poems about the illness and death of Almudena Grandes

The poet Luis García Montero, husband of Almudena Grandes, has announced that next September he will publish with Tusquets Editores One Year and Three Months, a book in which he takes a journey in the form of poetry through the entire process of illness and death of the writer, who died on November 27 at the age of 61.

"The way I have to dialogue with my life, to find meaning and to assume what happens is through poetry", so that the book covers the fifteen months, "the time from when Almudena was told the news until who died”, in which he has been talking with himself “about illness, death, memory and remembrance”.

The Andalusian author emphasizes that he has been able to carry out a work based on a “strong experience”, which “has taken me out of management and has brought me back to poetry”.

Tusquets, for his part, describes the work as “perhaps the most moving book” by the Andalusian author, “because of the containment, the serene evocation of distressing moments, the immense tenderness evoking the complicity and the memory of the one who is no longer there” .
