The Circuit of the Americas (COTA) hosts this Sunday the nineteenth race of the Formula 1 season. The United States Grand Prix will be the first of the three tests to be held on the American continent (United States, Mexico and Brazil). Although the World Cup is already sentenced, Max Verstappen was mathematically proclaimed champion in Suzuka, there are still several fronts to resolve.
On the one hand, the fight for the Constructors' World Cup is still open. Red Bull is proving unbeatable, winning 14 of the 18 tests, and has 619 points. It is followed by Ferrari, with 454 points, the only team that currently has options to fight to close the gap with the first position, since Mercedes, third classified (387) has not yet added any wins throughout the year.
The Dutch driver also has the challenge ahead of breaking the record for victories in a single season. Verstappen has 12 this year and if he wins today he will equal Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel who, with 13 wins, hold the record.
His teammate at Red Bull, 'Checo' Pérez, also has a clear goal to fight for: help his team secure first place in the fight for the constructors' title, and maintain second position in the drivers' championship . He is now second with 253 points, but Leclerc is just one point behind him.
The Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, the 19th race of the year on the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), takes place this weekend in Austin. The race will start this Sunday, October 23, from 9:00 p.m., Spanish time. The test can be followed, like the entire Formula 1 World Cup, through DAZN F1.
